The Asia-Pacific is the most dynamic, fast-growing, and vital economic region in the world. Some analysis have predicted that by the year 2020,
China and India will be vying with the United States for global economic supremacy. APEC's vision is to achieve free and open trade and investment in the Asia-Pacific by 2010 for industrialised economies and 2020 for developing economies.
This year also marks the 40th anniversary of ASEAN. It is timely to reflect on how the Asian economies, in particular the South East Asian countries,
have progressed thus far and how these economies can work together with China and India towards achieving this vision.
