Our recent two days Audit Express workshop for IIUM accounting undergraduates was initiated by IIUM’s BACC ASSOCIATION and supported by Kulliyyah Economics and Management Sciences.

The objective of the workshop was to provide the undergraduates with valuable exposure to practical auditing techniques and hands-on experience on Audit Express to complement their existing understanding of current auditing practices and procedures.

Under the supervision of IIUM audit lecturer, Dr Fatima, the undergraduates from the BACC ASSOCIATION coordinated the 2 days workshop impressively well. It was attended by 39 undergraduates. The majority of them were Year 3 undergraduates who will soon be undertaking industrial training.

During the workshop our AXP trainers guided the undergraduates systematically through the fundamental stages of an audit from audit planning to the preparation of an annual report using Audit Express. In addition to teaching the automated auditing software, the workshop was also specifically designed to further enhance the undergraduates’ understanding of auditing theory. Our AXP trainers, who are all ex-auditors, also shared with the undergraduates their practical experience in auditing. |

At the end of the 2 days workshop, we received many positive responses from the undergraduates. The majority of them agreed that the workshop has helped to enhance their knowledge in auditing. They appreciated the opportunity given to them to learn Audit Express and were positive that the knowledge gained would be of significant benefit to them before they start their industrial training or join audit firms. Some suggested the workshop should be conducted to all accountancy students and some even said it has motivated them to become an auditor! |

Overall we are very pleased to report that the students were of the opinion that it was a valuable, unique, interesting and enjoyable learning experience. |
